Dear Bethany Family,
It’s that time of year again and we are hosting our Bethany Cemetery Association Donation Drive! In this letter you will find a recap from 2022 and plans for 2023. Please be sure to let us know if you have any questions, comments, concerns or ideas regarding Bethany Cemetery!
As you know the cemetery care depends largely on donations. As you will see at the end of this letter, our donations severely dropped, although we are sure that the COVID pandemic was not to anyone’s financial benefit. The amount we receive each year from our gracious donors just barely covers the maintenance and mowing expenses. We ask you to continue your support for our small, local cemetery. We know many of you have a passion for family history as we do and we want to ensure our family member’s final resting place is cherished. Any amount you are willing to donate is appreciated; it all adds up!
I have spoken with Charles Stewart a few times now, and he has searched for the plat-book and is unable to locate it. We are still offering a $500 cash reward for whoever finds it. Surely it’s out there somewhere!
Our free fencing cost us only in lumber, concrete and fasteners; hopefully this spring the fencing as well as the road will be completed! I am very excited for these two projects! We have had some community service volunteers help with the fencing and cleaning headstones this past year.
Lastly, we hosted our first in-person event in October 2022; Cemetery Scavenger Hunt. We had nothing but excitement in the feedback and will plan to do it again this year. The cash prizes were “sponsored” by Bibb-Veach & Collier Funeral homes; and all of them were donated back! Everyone insisted we do it again this year as they had so much fun!

- Spring Cleanup Day: Saturday, May 6th at 10:00 AM with a rain date of May 13th.
- Cemetery Scavenger Hunt: Friday, October 27th at dusk.
