Beautiful weather, flashlights, and a little friendly competition made for a wonderful evening at Bethany Cemetery on Friday, October 23!
For our 5th Annual Cemetery Scavenger Hunt, teams of two had 30 minutes to answer 20 questions while exploring the cemetery—the final resting place of more than 280 individuals. It was a fun way to bring our community together while supporting the care and preservation of this special place.
In an especially generous gesture, our cash prize winners donated their winnings back to the cemetery. We sincerely appreciate their kindness and support!
New this year, we offered free event T-shirts to participants who registered early. Local businesses also had the opportunity to sponsor the event with a $100 donation and have their logos featured on the shirts. We are grateful to this year’s sponsors:
- A. Brown Logging
- Country Gals Hair & Nail Salon
- Finke Monument
- KJFM Radio
- Mid-West Pest Professionals
- Pyramid Heating and Cooling
While we are still finalizing the totals, preliminary figures indicate the event netted more than $1,000 to support cemetery maintenance, restoration, and preservation!
To everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, or volunteered: thank you. Your generosity helps Bethany Cemetery Association of Pike County, Missouri, continue caring for this final resting place with the dignity and respect it deserves.
Helping Preserve Our Local Cemeteries
Like many small cemeteries in our area, Bethany depends on donations, volunteers, and the continued support of people who care. Volunteers give their time and energy, but funding is essential to maintain the grounds, make repairs, and preserve these places for future generations.
We encourage you to consider supporting the cemeteries where your loved ones are laid to rest. Whether you give $20, $2,000, or any amount in between, your contribution makes a difference. No donation is too small, and every gift helps ensure these resting places remain cared for and the people within them remembered.
Thank you for being part of that effort—and for making this year’s scavenger hunt such a success!
